About Edelweiss

Edelweiss Creative

The story behind the name.

The Edelweiss (eyd-l-vahys) is a European mountain plant that has woolly white bracts around its small flowers and downy gray-green leaves. Known in latin as “Leontopodium Alpinum”, this small white and yellow flower is found only in remote mountain high altitude areas. It has long been a symbol of rugged beauty and the possession of one is proof of ‘unusual daring’, since the plant can survive under very harsh temperatures and conditions. To give one is to ‘promise dedication’.

As designers, we have a responsibility.

We’re not just here to make things look pretty. We need to possess compelling information underneath our ideas, just like the roots of the edelweiss that hang strong onto the side of the mountain, our strategy has to be rooted in truth that upholds the creative product. Whether it’s branding, strategy, communications or a specific problem – like the edelweiss on the mountain, memorable solutions have staying power.
